Is the Bow Wow Buddy chew proof? The Bow Wow Buddy is a durable safety device that is not meant to be used as a chew. It will hold up to strong chewing when using the appropriate size for the dog’s weight and chew strength (reference size chart). The device should be taken from the dog when the bully stick is chewed all the way down. If the dog is left alone with the device after the stick has been chewed down, there is a chance that the dog’s teeth could engage the plastic causing minor damage or some of the plastic to flake off. Will The Bow Wow Buddy fit all bully sticks? We hand select and sort our sticks into specific sizing categories that are a good fit for each Bow Wow Buddy size. If other brand sticks are used there is a chance not all of them will fit. BWL cannot guarantee the safety of the product when using other brands’ sticks. What is The Bow Wow Buddy made of? The Bow Wow Buddy is made out of a hard and durable yet light-weight nylon material that is used in many other pet products. It is 100% BPA free. What do I do with the leftover bully stick after my dog is done chewing? We recommend properly disposing of this piece of the stick though we have had customers either cut it up into smaller pieces since the treat is fully digestible or soften it a bit by soaking it in water and then breaking it up into smaller pieces that aren’t choking hazards. My dog won’t chew his bully stick while it’s attached to the bow Wow buddy, what should I do? Take the Bow Wow Buddy out of the box and encourage your pup to investigate it. Give praise and treats every time your dog sniffs the new Bow Wow Buddy safety device. Place a few high value treats on and around the device for positive association. Once the stick is secure, you can also spread something your dog likes on the stick (eg - peanut butter) to encourage chewing. Can a dog outside the prescribed weight range use a different sized Bow Wow Buddy? Yes, within reason. As long as the stick is engaged, the dog should not be interested in chewing on the device. However, once the stick is chewed all the way down, the Bow Wow Buddy and remaining stick should be taken from the dog. If large dogs are using a Bow Wow Buddy that is more than one size smaller than the recommendation, there is a chance they could cause significant damage. Looking for more Frequently Asked Questions?
